I was asked to help teach in, support, and develop the functional medicine program at Loma Linda University School of Medicine by program directors Ionela Hubbard, MD, LAc and Wayne Dysinger, MD, MPH. The program is designed for fourth-year medical students before they go into their residency programs and is part of the university’s preventive medicine program.
The functional medicine program is open to all accredited medical students in the United States upon acceptance from a formal application and registration. If you are an interested medical student please contact Dr. Hubbard at ihubbard@llu.edu.
Below is a link to an interview from recent graduate John Shin, MD describing his experience after taking the functional medicine program. Shin was accepted into the internal medicine residency program at the Mayo Clinic upon graduation from Loma Linda University. This new generation of physicians such as Shin make the future of medicine look very promising.

I couldn’t be happier to hear this good news. Loma Linda will be so lucky to have you Dr. K. I found the 4th year medical students to be very receptive to Functional Medicine when I hosted them in my Chiropractic practice during my last few years before retiring in 2011. I would imagine many more medical students will see the benefits to a Functional Medicine practice in the future. The best to you in this endeavor and say hello to Dr. Wayne Dysinger for me.

Is there a possibility for foreign medical graduates (India) to enrol in this program?
Hello Dr. Godwin,
You would need to contact the University to inquire about enrollment.
