I am pleased to announce I have recently been appointed Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
The university was founded in 1905 and provides an excellent education to 4,000 students in medicine, nursing, and public health at its Southern California location. The university is currently conducting research in more than 40 departments, including in nutrition and preventive medicine. It has several hospitals in Southern California that provide excellent medical care to the surrounding communities.
Loma Linda University is in one of the world’s “Blue Zones,” areas where people live the longest. Loma Linda mirrors the surrounding community’s value placed on a healthy diet and lifestyle, which has been shown to influence longevity.
The medical school has a very strong public health and preventive medicine department that includes a four-year combined residency program in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine.
I am very proud to be teaching a functional medicine program to fourth-year medical students. Loma Linda University is one of only two medical schools in the country that offers a functional medicine program.
It is an honor to be part of an outstanding institution that is leading the way in lifestyle medicine, diet, nutrition, and functional medicine. I believe they are laying the foundation for a future of functional medicine education and training in medical schools.
Congrats! Those future of medicine docs will be too late for me, but I’m glad they will be there for others. I hope the generations younger than me won’t have to suffer what I have. I think you will thrive in that environment. Best of wishes.
I’m so glad to see medicine getting into nutrition and prevention in an honest way. This has been sorely lacking and is a huge factor in so many illnesses today. For the past 40 years I have been reading and supplementing more and more until I am now at a point that I truly believe I would not be alive today without the nutrition and supplement practice.
I love your “Brain Working” book and wish you and Loma Linda all the best for a long and successful relationship.
My father is a 1957 graduate of LLU and I was born there. I was raised under the influences of the dietary habits instilled there, however, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and then breast cancer a year later – 2007 – 2008. These diagnosis rocked me to the core as I thought I had an “edge” on my health. Things come full circle with Dr. Kharrazian. Through my search to understand the hows and whys of how this happened, I met people trained through Dr. K in remote Idaho. I discovered I had leaky gut, gluten, casein and other food sensitivities through Cyrex labs and went through the Repairvite and Clearvite protocols, etc. I now follow the “summit webinars” having anything to do with subjects pertaining to autoimmune, digestion, brain function and the like. I am thrilled and proud to have Dr. K part of LLUs teaching staff where “it all began” for me.
Hi dr
I hope you can give me some encouragement!!! I am in the UK, and have Hishimotos (on 100mg) with multi nodules (not swollen) and anti bodies of 400+
I have been following a gluten free diet since beginning of January, and I spoke with my UK consultant and he said there is no evidence to prove that gluten helps thyroid patients and wouldn’t back my decision. He said its up to you if thats what you would like to do, but It wont change anything!!
By going on a gluten free diet will it change how i feel or would it lower my anti bodies?? I did feel amazing for 4-5 weeks now feeling awful again! Do i need to do the paeleo diet maybe? My tsh is 0.6…. I am hoping my GP will allow me another antibody test as I would like to know! Hope to hear soon gemma
Dr. K, thank you for your research, I have read your book, and given your book to many practitioners, and people. I am thankful to Dr. Marquis that he knew about your research and got me on the path to health, I just wish i knew sooner!! I have been sick for most of my life, my -t3s were in the 500s, i was sleeping 16 hours a day or more, i even tried taking t2 which i liked, but was told it could be dangerous to my health and was not researched enough, and before changing my diet…I just wanted to die!! I have been gluten and dairy free for 8 years now, recently went grain, dairy, and soy free, and I feel great. I probably have to tweak my diet more because this body is so sensitive, so I look forward to more of your research!!
Thank you again, Christl
I don’t know how grateful I’ve been to Dr. Kharrazian’s teachings through my Functional Neurologist Dr. Eric Kaplan. I don’t know how much I owe to you. Dr. Kaplan shed so much light on what you taught him. Thank you because I am just getting started. Thank you, thank you, & thank you.
From my heart and soul
Gino
That is so wonderful! Congratulations, they are blessed to have you! 🙂
Congratulations Dr K,
If anyone deserves this title, it is YOU! I have your two books, they are wonderful, I read each chapter and highlight them for reference. My acupuncturist has a library in his waiting room and that is where I saw your book. He told me it is the best book on Hashimotos there is so I bought it! Glad you are changing the world and helping future doctors. God bless you for all that you do for us thyroid patients.
